Local Action Teams (LATs)
A Local Action Team may be formed in a community
where there is an ongoing problem (e.g. graffiti or vandalism) that local
residents do not feel is being sufficiently addressed.
The concerned residents should be willing to assist the local crime and reduction
partnership usually consisting of representatives from the police and councils
by preparing a plan of action to deal with the issue. The remedy may be actioned
by the police, the council, other members of the local crime and reduction
partnership, the local residents or a combination of all.
Both Storrington and Billingshurst have LATs. Although Billingshurst's LAT is called BAIT. (Billingshurst Action Initiative Team).
If a LAT is set-up to overcome a particular problem and that problem has been resolved there is no reason for the LAT to be disbanded. The LAT should meet occasionally to keep a check on current issues within the community..
Anyone interested in starting up a LAT in the Horsham South district should contact their local PCSO
If and know of a LAT in your area of the Horsham South District and would like them to deal with a community problem then please contact one of the LAT members in your area or your local PCSO.
