Preference Service
From May 1999 new regulations have been in force to help prevent nuisance telephone and fax calls as well as junk mail.
Telephone Calls
If you inform a company that calls you that they should not call you again then
they must refrain from calling you. Alternativly you can register with the Telehone
Preference Service on 0845 0700707 which should stop most unsolicited calls.
Fax Calls
It is now unlawful to send a fax to anyone who has not consented to receive
it or has registered with the Fax Preference Service on 0845 0700 702.
Mail
To stop unwanted junk mail call the Mailing Preference Service on 0845 7034

Problems
If you still have unsolicited calls after registering you can complain to the
